Of course, it is up to you to decide what you'd like to make, whether you want to follow a structured path from inspiration and design to a final piece. Or just to have fun practicing the various techniques of throwing, modelling, glazing & firing.
Practical help and supportive tuition
Anyone can learn pottery, so sessions are tailored individually for both beginners and those who want to improve their skills and develop their own ideas further. Like any art form practice, experimentation and a supportive environment helps, but most of all like any creative hobby it’s got to be really enjoyable. So you get to choose what you work on and at what speed.
Everything you need is included to make your own pottery
All the materials you need are inclusive of the price, which you can pay on a per session basis.Individuality is positively encouraged. A combination of demonstrations, personal tuition and practical tips, means that even beginners will be making successful pots really quickly.
One-to-one ceramic classes
You can learn in a more focussed manner with one-to-one tuition, helping you create a unique piece of pottery for someone special …this could be something as easy as a set of feeding bowls for your favourite pet, to a more ambitious ceramic design to adorn a friend’s home or garden.
Project-Based Ceramics and Pottery
Making beautiful objects out of clay is a hands-on learning experience. Which is why self-directed projects with friendly guidance and assistance along the way, allows you to learn and follow your passion at a pace that suits you best. Each pottery session can be flexibly arranged based around how many times you would like to attend and how many projects you wish to do. A helping hand is there when you need it to support you across a range of techniques and throughout all the stages of your piece.
Pricing of sessions
£35 for a 2 hour session when booking two sessions or more. Simply give us a call to discuss what you would prefer to do, plus how often and when you would like to come.
Pottery sessions are held throughout the year at our home studio in East Dorset near the New Forest. Maximum class sizes are four people, so its perfect for beginners and couples, with tuition that is personal, hands-on and encouraging.
The pottery studio provides a perfect environment to learn a new skill, participate in a new hobby or perhaps just somewhere to make a unique special gift for a friend.
What to wear and what to bring
You should wear clothing that you won't mind getting clay splats on however aprons are provided. All tools and materials will be provided at the studio. You're welcome to bring ideas or pictures with you of what you'd like to try and make. – Please also have short fingernails.
